Comparing many cities
The planner lines up every city on the same 24 hours so you can see at a glance who is awake. Click an hour to set the meeting time, add as many cities as you like, and use the 12 or 24 hour switch if you prefer. The tool also lists the hours that fall between 8 AM and 9 PM for everyone.
Examples of common differences
- London and New York: 5 hours, or 4 hours for a few weeks when the clock changes do not line up.
- London and Dubai: 4 hours in winter, 3 hours in summer (Dubai has no daylight saving).
- London and Delhi: 5.5 hours in winter, 4.5 hours in summer.
- New York and Los Angeles: always 3 hours.
- London and Sydney: 9 to 11 hours depending on both countries' clock changes.
Tips for calling family and clients abroad
- Check the date as well as the hour. A morning call in Asia can be the previous evening in North America.
- Around the March and October clock changes the gap shifts by one hour, so check the exact date.

How do I find the time difference between two cities?
Pick the first city, choose a date and time, then add the second city. The tool shows the time there and the exact gap in hours, using each country's real daylight saving rules for that date.
Does daylight saving time change the gap?
Yes. The USA, Canada, UK and most of Europe change their clocks twice a year, while countries such as India, Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Japan do not. So the gap between two cities can shift by an hour, and the tool applies the right rule for the date you pick.
How many hours is New York behind London?
Usually 5 hours. For a few weeks in March and October-November the USA and UK change their clocks on different dates, so the gap is briefly 4 hours. Pick the exact date in the tool to be sure.
Why does the date change for some cities?
Because of the time difference, late evening in London can still be the same afternoon in New York, while early morning in Sydney is already the next day. The tool shows '+1 day' or '-1 day' when the date differs.
How do I plan a call across several countries?
Open the Compare many cities tab and add every city you need. Each row shows the 24 hours of the day, with green for working hours, amber for early or late and grey for night. Click an hour to move the meeting time, and the tool lists the hours that suit everyone.
What do the colours in the planner mean?
Green is normal working time (9 AM to 6 PM), amber is early morning or evening (7 to 9 AM and 6 to 9 PM) and grey is night. The first city in the list is your reference city, and you can make any city the reference with the home button.
