How to rotate a PDF

Add the file, choose how far to turn the pages and whether that applies to all pages or only some, then press Rotate and download. The new angle is stored in the PDF itself, so it looks right on phones, computers and printers.

When this helps

  • A scan came out sideways because the paper was fed in the wrong way.
  • A phone photo turned into a PDF with a landscape page that should be upright.
  • One page in a long file is upside down.

Tips

  • Not sure which pages are wrong? Look at them in Organize PDF, which shows every page as a picture.
  • Your original file is never changed. Each download starts again from the file you added.
  • To trim empty margins after rotating, use Crop PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The rotation is saved inside the file in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Choose 'Only these pages' and type numbers such as 2, 4-6. Scanned documents often have just a few sideways pages.

Which way is clockwise?

The buttons turn pages clockwise as you look at them. 90 degrees clockwise turns a sideways page upright if its top is on the left.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. The pages are not re-drawn. Only the viewing angle is stored, so text and images stay exactly the same.

Will it open correctly in every PDF viewer?

Yes. Rotation is a standard PDF setting and phones, browsers and printers follow it.
